Rainbow Crochet

Rainbow BlanketI have been obsessed with rainbows lately; they are bright and cheerful and you just can’t help but be uplifted by them! I captured a rainbow on cell during my commute to work recently even. July has just been a rainbow kind of month. I recently worked on a pattern from Attic24 for a Granny Stripe blanket. I am so in love with her photography and patterns! I used a Q hook on mine and two strands of Red Heart Super Saver at a time and started with a chain of 51. For variation I used a bright shade and a deep shade of each color. This throw worked up in just four days but it is super holey but since it is so big it would make a lovely throw and can even be doubled for warmth.

Final size is 44” by 68” and is shown in the photos on the rail folded in half and on the area rug (see the gallery at the end of the post for more of these photos). I did two rows of hdc in black for a border and am now working on the same pattern with a smaller hook to make a pillow sham or two to add just a little color to a room that needs it.

I have spun some bulky rainbow yarn but I haven’t been inspired just yet as to what to make of it. I also recently purchased some fun sock yarn from Knit Picks to make my son some socks for the holidays. He has been asking for these for over a year now so I am going to try to knock them out this year.
