I’m on a shawl kick

I am on a complete shawl kick and it’s all I want to make right now. I want to make them from fingering weight, worsted weight, crazy bulky handspun, it doesn’t matter I just want shawls. I’m having a great time making them too. Here are my latest:

Merlin’s Scarf (crochet) – Done in Nerd Girl Yarns Swagger, Joker colorway from the Random Fandom Sock Yarn Club:

I was going for a simple crochet triangle neck scarf like Merlin wears on the BBC Series, Merlin. I am writing up a quick pattern on this but there really isn’t a whole lot to it.

198 Yards of Heaven (knit) – Done in Schmutzerella Yarns Epic (Strawberry Kiwi colorway). I asked her to dye me some yarn that was bright and cheery and spoke to her and I got this amazing colorway! I whipped this bad boy out in 24 hours and no, I didn’t shower during the knit-a-thon.

I used size 9 needles instead of 8’s and ran out of yarn 4 rows short but I don’t think it really made a difference.

Magnificent Mantle (crochet) – Done in Nerd Girl Yarns Heart You, Astral, and Shimma:

I made this much larger (56 rows on a G hook) since I was using fingering weight yarn and I left out the mesh (added 2 rows of double crochet instead) because it just seemed too holey for me.

I have one other completed shawl but I still have to take the last photos and I am going to save it for the next post because I wan to tell you all about my latest spinning fun in my next post.
